Worsley's Thirlmere Aqueduct Valve Houses

I can’t get to the Lake District at the moment, but thanks to a pioneering piece of Victorian engineering, a small slice of the Lakes can be brought a little closer to me. I thought I’d get on board the YouTube #shorts bandwagon with this silly little video about the valve houses of the Thirlmere Aqueduct. Enjoy!

A love letter to Oeschinensee

I've written about Oeschinensee before, and I ran out of superlatives. I'd visited twice before, under a summer downpour and the midwinter sunshine, but never in the summer glow with time and space to explore. In August, I put that right. This is my love letter to Oeschinensee.

Some Like It Knott: visiting Arnside to climb England's Lowest Marilyn

Arnside Knott is England’s lowest Marilyn hill, and a short walk for high reward from nearby Arnside village.
